NEW ARRIVALS
The Priory Collection
Shirt and kit from the 1953 'Matthews FA Cup Final'
One of the most exciting items from the Priory Collection to feature in the redisplay at the National Football Museum is Sir Stanley Matthews' shirt and kit from the most famous FA Cup final of all time. The 1953 FA Cup Final, always known as the 'Matthews Final', is forever remembered for Blackpool's dramatic come-back led by England's best winger in the last 22 minutes to overcome Bolton's 3-1 lead to emerge as 4-3 dramatic winners. The Priory Collection display also includes the shirt of Matthews' tormented marker that day, Bolton defender Ralph Banks.

Unveiling of the shirt by Sir Tom Finney, Cyril Robinson (Blackpool player in the 1953 Final) and Jean Gough, Sir Stanley Matthews' daughter (copyright Pete Lucas).
